Hhgregg opens 10 new South Florida stores

Indianapolis — Hhgregg announced Tuesday that it will open 10 new stores in south Florida, launching simultaneous grand-opening celebrations on July 14.

The new stores located in Miami, Broward and Palm Beach counties bring the total number of Hhgregg stores in Florida to 33, according to the retailer. The openings are in the communities of Aventura, Boca Raton, Ft. Lauderdale, Hialeah, Pembroke Pines, Miami, Plantation, Jensen Beach, East Wellington and West Palm Beach.

Approximately 600 residents have been hired to staff the new Florida stores. The chain currently operates 190 stores in 15 states.

Walmart and Sam’s Club raise nearly $28M for Children’s Miracle Network

SALT LAKE CITY — Walmart and Sam’s Club stores, with the help of associate, customer and member donations, between May 1 and June 13 raised more thatn $27.9 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

During the six-week campaign, Walmart and Sam’s Club customers and members were invited to make a donation of $1, $2 or $5 at the register to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in their community. Additional in-store fundraisers were held to bolster fundraising efforts.

“Our annual fundraising campaign provides our customers with the opportunity to help children in their own communities by giving directly to their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital,” said Matt Cockrell, director of giving at the Walmart Foundation.

Since 1987, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and members have raised and contributed more than $550 million to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the most ever raised for children’s hospitals by a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partner.

Kohl’s launches contest to celebrate fall debut of Lopez, Anthony lines

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s announced that it is launching an online contest to celebrate the fall launch of its exclusive Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Collections.

Customers are invited to go online and submit a video showcasing why they love Lopez and/or Anthony.Fifteen winners will be selected to win an all-expense paid trip to New York City with their best friend to experience everything that Jennifer and Marc love about their hometown of New York City, the company reported.

The contest is open to U.S. residents aged 18 years and older. Videos can be submitted on the Kohl’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/kohls) through July 30.The 15 winners will be announced on Aug. 12.
