Hilo Hattie adds more solutions from MICROS-Retail
Westboro, Mass. MICROS-Retail, a division of MICROS Systems, announced that Hilo Hattie Fashion Centers, a Hawaiian retailer of island apparel and merchandise, has selected MICROS-Retail CWSerenade Java Order Management and eOne Web Commerce eCommerce platform. The retailer has been operating on the MICROS-Retail integrated POS and merchandising system since May 31.
“Hilo Hattie has seen tremendous benefits from the other MICROS-Retail solutions we recently implemented. It makes sense to continue that success in our direct channel with MICROS-Retail’s CWSerenade and eOne,” stated Bruce Bonar, CIO at Hilo Hattie, which operates seven stores on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Kona and Hilo.
While many tourists and Hawaiian residents shop in the physical stores, Hilo Hattie has enjoyed significant revenue growth from online sales. Bonar stated: “People shop online with us because they want a taste of paradise at home. The new solutions will enable us to offer them more options while they shop through suggestive selling. The AJAX shopping cart will make checkout fast and simple. On the back end, we’ll have a more streamlined fulfillment process and reporting suite through CWSerenade.”

Walmart works to maintain price leadership
BENTONVILLE, Ark. Walmart is working to maintain its price leadership by announcing that will offer deep discounts on thousands of items through the holiday period.
“Many of these prices represent the lowest we’ve offered in years, because we know these are tough times for American families,” said Eduardo Castro-Wright, vice chairman, Wal-Mart Stores. “We made a purposeful decision to focus initially on everyday staples as well as items that often require larger spending commitments in preparation for Thanksgiving and Christmas.”
The retailer announced that it well lower prices on select frequently purchased or popular toys, including ground beef, bananas and board games, in addition to offering it’s everyday value on other items.
