Home Depot earnings soar 72% in Q4
Atlanta — Home Depot reported Tuesday that profit for the quarter ended Jan. 30 surged 72% to $587 million, compared with $342 million a year earlier, and and the home-improvement chain provided 2011 guidance at or above the views it gave in December. Results were helped by a strong showing in the United States.
Revenue increased 3.8% to $15.12 billion, beating Wall Street expectations of $14.81 billion. Same-store sales rose 3.9% and were up 4.8% in the United States.
For the year, net income rose 25%to $3.34 billion from $2.66 billion, or $1.57 per share. Revenue rose 2.8% to $68 billion.
Toys “R” Us kicks off fundraising campaign for Autism Speaks
WAYNE, N.J. — Toys "R" Us is kicking off an in-store fundraising campaign to benefit North America’s largest autism science and advocacy organization.
Now through April 30, monetary donations will be collected at all Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us stores and online to benefit Autism Speaks.
This year marks the fifth year Toys "R" Us has teamed up with Autism Speaks, the company said. The theme for this year’s campaign, Toys "R" Us said, is "Be A Hero For Autism."
"With millions of families in the U.S. impacted by this disorder, we wanted to shine a spotlight on the everyday heroes of autism, including children who learn to overcome obstacles and reach new milestones, to those who know a child with the disorder and are committed to helping solve the autism puzzle," said Jerry Storch, chairman and CEO, Toys "R" Us Inc. "At Toys"R"Us, we love kids, and we are proud to have partnered with Autism Speaks for five consecutive years in their mission to fund global biomedical research on autism and advocate for the needs of individuals with this disorder and their families."
AisleBuyer names new VPs

Paul Harsha, VP engineering, and Scott Almeida, CPA, VP finance and administration, are the newest additions to AisleBuyer.
