Hot Topic President Resigns

City of Industry, Calif. Hot Topic Inc. announced that Michael Crooke, who was appointed the president of the company’s Hot Topic division on June 2, is no longer with the company.

In addition to her responsibilities as CEO of Hot Topic, Inc., Betsy McLaughlin has assumed oversight for the Hot Topic division.

Under Armour Appoints President

Baltimore Under Armour named David McCreight to be the company’s president. McCreight, 45, comes to Under Armour from Lands End, where he also held the position of president.

McCreight will report directly to Under Armour chairman and CEO Kevin Plank and will be responsible for long-term strategy and managing the company’s core businesses, which include apparel, footwear and accessories.

Additionally, he will oversee the company’s wholesale and direct-to-consumer distribution channels and marketing initiatives.

Prior to his Lands End tenure, McCreight held positions as senior VP of Disney Stores Worldwide and president at Smith and Hawken.

RILA Names New Board Members

Arlington, Va. The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) announced the addition of several new members to its board of directors.

Joining the board are Eduardo Castro-Wright, president and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores, USA, and Richard Dreiling, CEO of Dollar General Corp. Also, Eric Wiseman, president and CEO of VF Corp., replaces the retiring Mackey McDonald who had served on the RILA board since 2000.

In addition, Autozone CEO Bill Rhodes, was elected to serve as the board’s treasurer.

The new members participated in the mid-year board meeting held on Thursday June 19th in Washington, D.C.
