J.C. Penney makes executive promotions
Plano, Texas J.C. Penney Co. announced that Michael T. Theilmann and Thomas M. Nealon, have been named group executive VPs of the company, each assuming expanded operational responsibilities.
Under this new senior operating leadership structure, Theilmann will take on responsibility for the company’s stores organization, as well as have continued leadership of supply chain, human resources and administration. Nealon will now oversee J.C. Penney’s Internet site, jcp.com, in addition to his current responsibility for IT, corporate strategy and J.C. Penney’s digital ventures organization, which is charged with exploring strategic digital opportunities and growth initiatives.
Wal-Mart’s co-head of apparel departs
Bentonville, Ark. Wal-Mart Stores reported Thursday that its general manager of apparel, Dottie Mattison, has resigned her position. She had reported to chief merchant John Fleming, who is departing Wal-Mart on Aug.1.
Mattison shared her position with Lisa Rhodes, senior VP, who was appointed to her role earlier this quarter.
New York Home Depot fined by OSHA
New York City Home Depot has received a $112,000 fine from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for allegedly failing to correct previously cited safety hazards at its West Nyack, N.Y., store according to an article in the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
According to the article, the store was cited for failing to provide suitable emergency drenching facilities for employees in the paint department, plumbing department and the cleaning supplies department, as well as storing incompatible chemicals together.
