J.Crew opening 46 stores in 2013; to make European debut in London

New York — J.Crew Group Inc. expects to open 46 stores in 2013, company officials said during its quarterly conference call.

The specialty retailer will open 17 Madewell stores, 13 factory outlet units and 16 namesake locations, including its first-ever store in Europe, in London.

For the fourth quarter, J.Crew’s earnings were up 18% to $70.4 million. Same-store sales rose 11%.

This company J. Crew has a lot to offer from children wear to adult wear both for men and women. Now that have open in London people there a wider choice of where to shop. - Rich Von

Two new locations announced for Nordstrom Rack

Seattle — Nordstrom announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack in Louisville, Ky. The 33,000-sq.-ft. store, at Shelbyville Road Plaza, is scheduled to open in fall 2013 and will be the retailer’s first location in the state.

Nordstrom is also expanding its presence in Florida. It will open a Nordstrom Rack at the Shoppes at University Town Center to serve customers in the Sarasota-Bradenton metro area. The approximately 35,000-sq.-ft.store is scheduled to open in fall 2013.

The retailer currently operates nine full-line stores and eight Rack stores in Florida. Nordstrom recently announced two additional new Rack stores in Jacksonville and Naples scheduled to open this fall in addition to the full-line store slated to open in Jacksonville next year.

City Sports opening 11,000-sq.-ft. store in Manhattan

Boston — City Sports announced that it will open its 22nd retail location in New York City, on March 26. It will be City Sports’ third location in New York City.

The new store, in the city’s financial district, will be the company’s largest retail location to date, with nearly 11,000 sq. ft. of selling space devoted to athletic apparel, footwear and equipment.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be opening a third retail location in New York City," said City Sports president and CEO Edward Albertian.

The shoe floor will be a key focal point of the new location sporting over 300 styles of footwear and a full staff to perform customer gait analysis and custom fittings. Other key highlights will include a full service racquet sports department that will offer demo racquets and free stringing for City Sports Insiders. Additionally, the store will feature an open floor plan to allow for easier navigation as well as iPads, which will be exclusively available for customers to shop or research products at citysports.com.

City Sports operates 21 stores across the East Coast.
