Jewel-Osco to Relocate Headquarters
Jewel-Osco will relocate its headquarters to Itasca, Ill., from Melrose Park, Ill., this summer and will include in its newest Chicago store a chef’s station and a wine steward, the company’s president said Monday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The retailer will relocate 400 employees, but will keep its distribution center, with 1,500 employees, in Melrose Park. The company will lease its new four-story, 97,000-sq.-ft. headquarters, and will share the building with other tenants.
Jewel-Osco, under its parent company Supervalu’s three-year initiative, will remodel 30 stores in the region this year, the report said.
Best Buy Names CIO of International Unit
Minneapolis Best Buy Co. said that Neville Roberts will join the company in a new position as CIO of Best Buy International, the strategic business unit focused on the enterprise’s growth outside of the United States.
Prior to joining Best Buy, Roberts spent more than 18 years at Accenture, most recently as a senior partner in their Global Retail Practice.
Roberts will lead Best Buy’s international information-systems team to create “Best Buy-in-a-box,” a suite of off-the-shelf IT packages. In addition, one of his primary initial focuses will be to create an e-commerce platform as part of the multichannel strategy to support the company’s international growth.
DAVACO Names Director of Restaurant Division
DAVACO, Inc. announced recently that Tom Sacco was named director of the company’s restaurant division. He will be responsible for leading the expansion of DAVACO’s restaurant business and oversee the team’s execution of remodel, re-image, new restaurants and special-project programs for national and regional restaurant clients from a variety of foodservice segments, including quick service, casual and fine dining.
Sacco has more than 20 years experience driving growth of restaurant services. He formerly served as VP of sales and business development for MIRUS Restaurant Solutions; VP of operations for Fox Sports Grill; director of Texas operations for BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery; and president of Triangle Foodservice Corp.
