Jo-Ann Stores names president and COO
Hudson, Ohio Jo-Ann Stores said Tuesday it has promoted Travis Smith to president and COO, effective Jan. 31.
Smith, currently COO, will retain his current responsibilities for overseeing the areas of marketing, merchandising, sourcing, inventory management, supply chain and store operations, according to the company. In addition, he will assume responsibility for information technology.
Smith has served as COO of Jo-Ann Stores since February 1, 2009. He joined Jo-Ann as executive VP merchandising and marketing in 2006. Prior to joining Jo-Ann, Smith was senior VP general merchandise for Fred Meyer, a division of Kroger.
Jo-Ann Stores currently operates more than 750 Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores in 48 states.
Centro Properties announces executive promotion
New York City Centro Properties Group announced that Edward Ciano has been promoted to VP property management, mid-Atlantic region.
Based in Conshohocken, Pa., Ciano oversees the property management group responsible for approximately 13.3 million sq. ft. of community and neighborhood shopping centers in six states, including Delaware; Maryland; New Jersey; New York; Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Until its acquisition by Centro Properties Group in April 2005, Ciano was a regional property manager with Kramont Realty Trust.
Fresh & Easy director leaves company
El Segundo, Calif. Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has announced that Jim Jensen, the chain’s director of fresh foods, has left the company.
A successor has not yet been named.
Jensen had held the post since mid-2008, when he was promoted from his position as category manager for bakery.
