Kinney Drugs acquires four independent pharmacies

Gouverneur, N.Y. — Regional player Kinney Drugs has snapped up four independent pharmacies located in central New York and Vermont, bringing its total store count to 94.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.


“These acquisitions are a very good fit for Kinney Drugs and are consistent with our stated growth objectives in retail pharmacy,” said Jim Spencer, COO of Kinney Drugs store division. “They will allow us to grow our prescription base and market share within existing markets, and at the same time expand into two new areas in Central New York and Vermont.”

Two of the acquired pharmacies have been converted and remerchandised, and will operate under the Kinney Drugs name. The other two pharmacies were closed, and prescription files and inventory were transferred to the neighboring Kinney Drugs.

Fossil names new COO

RICHARDSON, Texas — Fossil has named John White as EVP and COO effective Sept. 4. White will be responsible for the company’s supply chain, distribution and warehousing, legal and information technology operations, with a focus on long-term strategy. He will report directly to Kosta Kartsotis, CEO.

"We are very excited to have John join our executive team. His track record of driving strategic improvements and operational excellence across large organizations will be invaluable to us as we continue our global expansion," said Kartsotis.

White most recently served as president for Pandora North America, a division of Pandora, A/S. Pandora is a global jewelry company headquartered in Denmark. White joined Pandora in March 2007 and held various roles including general manager and managing
director until his promotion to president, North America in October 2010. Prior to joining Pandora, White served as a strategy consultant for the operations and supply chain strategy and design team for Booz | Allen | Hamilton from April 2006 until March 2007.

White received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Masters of Business Administration from Marylhurst University.

Babies’R’Us welcomes arrival of Heidi Klum baby line

WAYNE, N.J. — Fashionable moms will want to head to there local Babies"R’Us store this fall to ge their hands on the retailer’s new, exclusive line of baby and children’s products from supermodel Heidi Klum.

Launching in stores and online on Sept. 15, Heidi Klum’s "Truly Scrumptious" line will feature items for newborns to size 5T. The launch of Truly Scrumptious is the beginning of a long, collaborative relationship between Klum and Babies“R”Us that will include multiple new collections each year, the company said.

“I always knew that I wanted to create great items for children – but I wanted to find a home where all of my ideas for babies and kids could be under one roof with a company that is truly the authority in the world of babies and kids. I finally found that with Babies”R”Us and am so excited to partner with them to launch my Truly Scrumptious collection,” said Klum. “I designed this first collection not only with adorable kids in mind, but I thought of all the little details to make things easier on moms, too. From cool and stylish mix-and-match apparel, to fun and colorful floor-to-ceiling room décor, my Truly Scrumptious line has it all. I’m really proud of what we’ve created and can’t wait to share it on September 15.”

The Truly Scrumptious line will include apparel and accessories ranging from $4.99 to $39.99. Styles include military- and varsity-style jackets, tutus hats, mittens and more. The collection will also include bedding and matching room décor. The full bedding, room décor and furniture assortment ranges in price from $17.99 crib sheets to $649.99 five-drawer dressers.

The line will also launch with the Scope stroller, which comes in three colors, blue, raspberry and black, for $79.99.
