Kmart, Sears offer ship-to-home for online layaway purchases
Hoffman Estates, Ill. — Sears Holdings Corp. said Wednesday that its namesake and Kmart stores will offer ship-to-home delivery for items purchased through online layaway.
The new service, which comes at a time when many major retailers are amping up shopper-centric programs for the holiday selling season, is also available on store kiosks, said Sears, enabling customers to bypass the layaway line and select, purchase and have items delivered directly to their homes.
Both retailers will launch the service on Nov. 7.
Corner Bakery names new president to lead expansion
Dallas — Corner Bakery Café said Wednesday it has named Gary Price as president of the chain.
Price, a franchise and restaurant veteran, will be responsible for overall strategy and growth as the fast-casual brand executes previously announced plans to double its footprint in the U.S. over the next four years through a combination of franchised and company-owned cafes.
Price was previously head of food service operations at travel-center chain Pilot Flying J.
Corner Bakery Cafe CEO Mike Hislop launched a search to fill the position earlier this year.
Running Specialty Group acquires Run On!
Denver — Regional chain The Running Specialty Group announced Wednesday it has acquired five Dallas-based Run On! stores, bring the total number of stores to 24.
RSG is a joint venture between The Finish Line and private-equity firm Gart Capital Partners.
Plans call for RSG to begin expanding in Texas and surrounding areas over the next five years.
