Kroger taps Ralph’s VP as president of Fry’s Food

Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has promoted Steve McKinney to president of the Fry’s Food Stores division. Fry’s operates 119 food stores in Arizona.

McKinney, 57, has been VP of operations at the company’s Ralphs division since 2007. He succeeds Jon Flora, who passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago.

"In his 31 years with the company, Steve has demonstrated a deep knowledge of our industry, excellence in operations, and a passion for serving our customers and our associates," said Rodney McMullen, Kroger’s president and CEO. "Steve has the expertise and energy to lead Fry’s in the years ahead. I know that he and our outstanding associates will continue to honor and sustain Fry’s great legacy of associate engagement, service to our customers, and communities."

U.S. investigators raid Lumber Liquidator’s offices

New York — Lumber Liquidators Holdings Inc., the fast-growing hardwood flooring retailer, said Friday that federal authorities with search warrants showed up at its corporate offices Virginia, on Thursday. The company said that the federal authorities’ actions were related to certain wood flooring product imports.

The authorities were from the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Lumber Liquidators said that it takes sourcing and compliance very seriously and is cooperating and providing the information that the authorities requested.

Best Buy appoints Weather Company exec to board

New York — David Kenny, chairman and CEO of Weather Company, parent company of The Weather Channel, has joined the Best Buy board of directors.

Kenny, who joined The Weather Company in January 2012, previously served as president of Akamai, a cloud platform.

“We are delighted to have David join our Board,” said Hatim Tyabji, chairman of the Best Buy board. “One of the foundations of our Renew Blue transformation is the creation of a world-class multichannel experience for our customers. Given David’s deep experience in the digital field, I am certain that his voice on the board will be valuable on these and many other topics.
