Lowe’s launches energy centers in 21 stores

BY CSA STAFF

Mooresville, N.C. Lowe’s is launching “Energy Centers” in 21 California stores. The Energy Center is a one-stop destination aimed to empower customers to create an energy plan that fits their budget and home-improvement goals.

The Energy Center outlines three ways for customers to save energy and money: Measure how much energy they use or lose with power monitors and other devices; reduce energy consumption with CFLs and other money-saving products; and generate and use renewable energy with solar panels.

An informational kiosk offers a touch-screen display to help customers evaluate energy needs, and the Energy Center features products that offer alternative energy solutions.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. Walmart’s latest holiday promotion involves home entertainment and popular Christmas dinner staples.

Starting Dec. 12, Walmart said it will offer disounts on such items as LCD TVs, Blu-Ray disc players and Blu-Ray movies. In addition, the retailer announced that customers can purchase a Christmas dinner for eight for less than $30. The dinner includes a 10-pound select hickory smoked, spiral cut half ham, three 8-ounce cans Del Monte green beans, one 10-pound bag of Russet potatoes, one 12-count package of Sara Lee dinner rolls and one 10-inch pumpkin pie.

Walmart used a similar marketing tactic for the Thanksgiving holiday, when it promoted discounts on electronics and food staples, such as $5 turkeys.
