Macy’s to increase temporary hires for holiday season
New York City Macy’s on Thursday said it would make a “slight increase” in hiring during the holiday season because of an expected rise of 3% to 3.5% in same-store sales in the second half of fiscal 2010.
Macy’s plans to hire approximately 65,000 seasonal associates in its stores, call centers, distribution centers and online fulfillment facilities for the holiday season.
The workers will add to the retailer’s contingent of 161,000 associates on a year-round basis.
WD Partners announces promotion of Allison Westrick
Dublin, Ohio WD Partners announced the promotion of Allison Westrick as executive director, design and brand.
Westrick has been with WD for six years, and will oversee business development responsibilities, as well as manage collaboration and communication for the design and branding group. WD Partners works with food and retail brands on strategy, design, architecture, engineering and implementation services.
Obama to appoint Rubel to advisory committee
New York City President Barack Obama is appointing retail chief Matthew Rubel to the advisory committee for trade policy and negotiations.
Rubel is chairman, CEO and president of Collective Brands, whose banners include footwear giant Payless ShoeSource.
