Macy’s names new VP merchandising
Cincinnati — Macy’s announced that Steven Derwoed has been appointed VP merchandising for the Macy’s Store Planning and Design group (SPACE).
Prior to joining Macy’s, Derwoed served as principal in the New York office of Callison Architects and partner, VP design at RYA Design Consultancy.
Office Depot and Citi renew private-label partnership
Atlanta — Citi announced Thursday that it has renewed its U.S. private-label credit card partnership with Office Depot.
“The Office Depot Business Credit Card and the Office Depot Personal Credit Card both provide our customers with the increased spending power they need in these economic times,” said George Hill, senior VP store operations, Office Depot.
According to Citi, its Retail Partner Cards provide consumer and commercial credit card products and services, including private-label credit cards, for national and regional retailers across the United States.
Rite Aid announces exec shifts in HR and Ops
Camp Hill, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. said Thursday that it has shifted executive VP store operations Brian Fiala to the position of executive VP human resources, responsible for all aspects of human resources, including training, recruitment, talent management, compensation and benefits and labor relations. He will report to John Standley, Rite Aid president and CEO.
Fiala succeeds Steve Parsons, who is leaving Rite Aid to take another position.
Senior VP-Western Division Robert K. Thompson has been named to succeed Fiala as executive VP store operations. He will be responsible for all operations at the company’s more than 4,700 stores and will report to Ken Martindale, Rite Aid COO.
Bill Romine, formerly Group VP for Metro New York, will succeed Thompson as senior VP Western Division.
