McCormick’s World of Flavor, Baltimore

Spice maker McCormick & Company has opened its first retail destination, McCormick’s World of Flavor, in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor area. Designed as a brand showcase, the store houses McCormick’s full range of flavorings, seasonings and other products, including its Old Bay and Grill Mates lines.

The 3,800-sq.-ft. space has areas focusing on cooking, baking and grilling, with educational and interactive displays that include Guess That Spice, a game that tests the sense of smell, and FlavorPrint, an interactive personalized flavor profile. Cooking demonstrations and product sampling allow visitors to experience the wide variety of spices and flavors featured in the store.

McCormick partnered with a number of companies on its new retail concept, including retail design firm JGA, Southfield, Mich.

Supervalu launches single-serve coffee product

MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu has launched a new, single-size version of its Java Delight brand of premium coffee.

“The UnCup pod provides our customers with a premium single serve coffee at an affordable price,” said Sam Mayberry, Supervalu’s VP private brands. “It was also important for us to develop a product that is more environmentally friendly and our UnCup single serve pod uses 30% less material by weight than the leading national brand pod. Protecting the environment is very important to Supervalu and we continue to focus on producing as little waste as possible when launching new products and packaging.”

Currently, the coffee will be available in six flavors and additional flavors are currently in development. The UnCup pod can be used with leading single-serve coffee makers including Keurig brewing systems.

A.C. Moore brings back American Cancer Society fundraising campaign

BERLIN, N.J. — For the second year in a row, A.C. Moore Arts and Crafts along with its associates and customers, will team up to raise funds from Sept. 9 through Oct. 13, 2012, for the American Cancer Society through A.C. Moore’s "Crafting a Better World" program." This initiative coincides with the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign in October, and gives customers an opportunity to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

"Last year, our stores collectively raised more than $123,000 in just a short period of time," said Pepe Piperno, chairman of the board of A.C. Moore. "This year, we are hoping to surpass that amount. The American Cancer Society is an organization that has truly made a difference in the world of so many who have fought and are continuing to fight breast cancer."

This fundraising program is part of A.C. Moore’s "Crafting a Better World" Program which helps local communities. Since its launch in 2010, the program has raised more than $900,000 for not-for-profit organizations that provide services in the communities in which A.C. Moore stores operate.
