McDonald’s U.S. same-store sales drop 1.4% in February

Oak Brook, Ill. – U.S. same-store sales dropped 1.4% at McDonald’s Corp. during February 2014, with global same-store sales declining 0.3%.

Other segment same-store results for McDonald’s during the month included a 0.6% increase in Europe and a 2.6% decrease in Asia-Pacific/Middle East/Africa (APMEA). The company cited severe weather and challenging industry dynamics in affecting its U.S. same-store sales performance.

"We are intent on improving our business performance by thoughtfully evolving our approach to ensure that we are delivering the most compelling value, service and convenience to each of the approximately 70 million customers who choose McDonald’s each day."

Ann Inc. supply chain exec joins Neiman Marcus

Dallas — Michael West has joined Neiman Marcus Group Inc as senior VP, distribution, logistics and fulfillment. West joins Neiman Marcus from Ann Inc., where he was senior VP, global logistics and distribution. He spent more than 12 years with Target Corp., where he held various positions, including VP, global logistics.

"Mike has more than 20 years of executive and global experience in logistics, distribution, and fulfillment, as well as store management," said Karen Katz, president and CEO of Neiman Marcus. "His leadership, experience, and vision will be a welcome addition to the Neiman Marcus Group team."

Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina selects Micros enterprise platform

Charlotte, N.C. — Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina, a Mexican fast casual concept, has selected Micros Simphony Enterprise Solution for all corporate locations. In conjunction with Simphony POS, Salsarita’s is deploying Micros Simphony’s Reporting, Labor, Inventory, Loyalty, and Online Ordering modules.

The solution is hosted in the Micros Data Center. After a year-long evaluation process, Salsarita’s selected Micros Simphony due to its cloud platform. With a single centralized database, Salsarita’s will benefit from standardization across all locations, as well as enterprise management of the database and a single-source solution for loyalty, gift, customer relationship management, inventory management, online ordering, and labor management.
