Michael Kors names Toys ‘R’ Us exec as VP operations
Hong Kong – Michael Kors Holdings Ltd. has named Cathy Marie Robinson as senior VP, global operations effective. Robinson has 24 years’ experience in operations, logistics and supply chain management at various retail companies, and since 2012 was senior VP, chief logistics officer at Toys “R” Us.
From 2010 to 2012, Robinson was the senior VP, supply, logistics and customer experience at The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P). Robinson began her career as a United States Army logistics officer and also held various logistics and operations positions at Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
“We are pleased that Marie will be joining our executive team,” said John D. Idol, chairman and CEO of Michael Kors. “Her significant experience managing global supply chain operations for large retail distribution networks, both brick-and-mortar and online, will be instrumental to us as we develop a world-class distribution network to meet the growing demand for our brand.”
Michaels Stores debuts 24-hour online shopping
Irving, Texas – Michaels has launched its new “inspirational” arts and crafts site that offers 24-hour shopping on any computer, tablet or smartphone. The new site offers project ideas and one-click shopping lists for projects.
It also features "Favorite Pins" – projects and products that are trending on Pinterest from Michaels.com. During the launch period, Michaels.com will feature 21 days of hourly, daily and weekly online specials.
"Our customers have been asking us for years when we’re going to offer online shopping, and now we’ve created a site that truly is ‘Where Creativity Happens,’" said Michaels CEO Chuck Rubin. "We’ve simplified the online shopping experience so that when visitors find a project they love, they can just click on it and fill their cart with everything they need instead of going to page after page."
Domino’s introduces online group ordering tool
Ann Arbor, Mich. – Domino’s Pizza has developed the Group Ordering Tool as an online feature that calculates an estimate of the number of pizzas needed to feed a specific amount of people. Domino’s customers who use the Group Ordering Tool will also receive a discount on the menu price of their pizzas.
"The Group Ordering Tool is perfect for holiday get-togethers such as Memorial Day, graduation parties or large lunch meetings where customers don’t know how many or what pizzas to order," said Chris Brandon, Domino’s Pizza spokesperson. "How many times have you had to do the math to figure out how many pizza pies to get? Domino’s tool solves that big ‘pizza problem’ and shows customers what our most popular topping options are as well."
