Michael Kors opens at Cherry Hill Mall

Cherry Hill, N.J. — Noted fashion designer and retailer Michael Kors has opened a new store in Cherry Hill, N.J. — at the Cherry Hill Mall, a property owned by Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust.

The store opening is part of the mall’s $200 million complete renaissance, which includes the addition of white-linen restaurants, a new parking deck, the addition of an upscale retail wing, a redesigned and relocated food court now called Cherry Hill Cafés, and extensive interior and exterior renovations.

Hallmark Cards expands data warehouse with Teradata

San Diego — Teradata announced Tuesday that Hallmark Cards Inc. has expanded its data warehouse environment with new enterprise data warehouse platforms, including new data warehouse appliances, as well as the latest Aprimo Relationship Manager application from Aprimo, a Teradata company.

The upgraded platforms and software tools were implemented while realizing a 30% reduction in total cost of ownership. Hallmark also added utilities for backup and recovery, as well as Teradata Viewpoint and Professional Services support.

“We in the marketing team were ready to start doing more automated multi-step campaigns and the new Teradata-Aprimo software now provides us with that valuable capability,” said DeAnna Blair, marketing project leader, Hallmark Cards. “We operate in a complex, consumer-centric business which requires a more agile data warehouse with excellent performance economics.”

Using Teradata, Hallmark gathers daily POS information, including purchases from millions of loyalty card holders.

Ross Dress for Less expanding in Chicago area

Pleasanton, Calif. — Ross Dress for Less will celebrate its initial entry into the greater Chicago area with the grand opening of 12 stores on Saturday, Oct. 8.

"The opening of these 12 locations kicks off our entrance into the Midwest and our commitment to the greater Chicago area," said Michael O’Sullivan, president and COO for Ross Stores.

The offprice retailer will open stores in Algonquin, Arlington Heights, Bloomingdale, Crystal Lake, Matteson, Naperville, Niles, Orland Park, Rockford, Schaumburg, Skokie and South Elgin.
