Mid-America’s Panovich honored for Lifetime Industry Leadership
Chicago — C. Michelle Panovich, principal and executive VP, Mid-America Asset Management will receive the Lifetime Industry Leadership Award at the 12th annual Real Estate Gala hosted by the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University. The event will take place on Nov. 7.
Christopher G. Kennedy, chairman of Joseph P. Kennedy Enterprises, will keynote the event, which draws more than 400 attendees annually and benefits Roosevelt’s real estate program.
A senior operating partner with Mid-America, Panovich has more than 30 years of experience in real estate construction, development and management. She is responsible for the portfolio of properties managed by the company throughout the Midwest and has directed the redevelopment of Brickyard Mall in Chicago and now Deerbrook Mall in Deerfield. She has also carried out retail revitalization efforts in downtown LaGrange and Park Ridge.
The gala will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel, 120 E. Delaware Place, Chicago, starting at 5:30 p.m. Each year the gala is the premier real estate networking event of the year in Chicago with over 400 industry leaders in attendance. The event provides over half of the Institute’s annual operating budget as well as support for named funds and scholarships.

Togo’s opens Ripon, Calif., location
Ripon, Calif. — Togo’s Eateries has announced the opening of its first location in Ripon, Calif.
The restaurant will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 5 at 11:30 a.m. In addition, a grand opening celebration has been planned for Saturday, Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Togo’s in Ripon will also offer online ordering and catering services for in-store pick up.
Recently, Togo’s marked its 40th anniversary with more than 250 locations open on the west coast of the United States. The company aims to open 400 new locations in California and other key markets such as Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, over the next several years.
DSW inks deal at Shops at La Palmera in Corpus Christie
Fort Worth, Texas — Designer Shoe Warehouse — DSW — has announced plans for a new store at The Shops At La Palmera, a 200,000-sq.-ft. outdoor shopping center in Corpus Christie, Texas, according to Trademark Property Company.
Construction has begun on the 18,000-square-foot DSW, which is located adjacent to Catherine’s. This is the first Corpus Christi location for DSW Inc., which is scheduled to open in early 2014.
The Shops at La Palmera is located across from La Palmera, a one-million-sq.-ft. super regional mall which underwent a two-year $50 million renovation after Trademark www.trademarkproperty.com and Institutional Mall Investors LLC purchased the property in 2008.
