Modell’s to open in Arlington, Va.

New York — Modell’s Sporting Goods will celebrate the grand opening of its store in Arlington, Va., on May 9.

The store is located in Pentagon Centre. With its opening, Modell’s will have a total of 154 storefronts.

“We are thrilled to have our 18th store in the Virginia-Maryland area,” said Modell’s president and CEO Mitchell Modell. “We look forward to becoming a stronghold in our new community and getting them everything they need for the summer.”

idX to acquire Impressions Marketing Group

St. Louis — idX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of consumer environments, has signed an agreement to acquire Impressions Marketing Group, Lorton, Va., a graphics, custom fixture and décor business.

Impressions founder, president and CEO Rick Gerber and MIS director Terry Phillips will assume key management roles with the new division, with specifics still to be determined. Dave Mueller, executive VP and general manager of idX Dayton, will also assume a management role in the division, in addition to his current responsibilities.

Target opens 24 stores in Western Canada in May

Mississauga, Ontario — Target announced the soft opening dates for 24 locations in Western Canada, with 22 stores opening on May 7 and two opening on May 14.

The openings, which include stores in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba, follow the opening of 24 stores across Ontario. As previously announced, Target plans to open 124 stores across Canada throughout 2013.

"Target is thrilled to be opening stores in Western Canada, providing a one-stop shopping destination that meets the wants and needs of our guests," said Tony Fisher, president, Target Canada. "It was exciting to see the response to our Ontario store openings, which have produced valuable insights that along with our soft openings in Western Canada will help us to continue to deliver on Target’s “Expect More. Pay Less.” brand promise for guests across Canada."
