New center approved for Delray Beach, Fla.
Delray Beach, Fla. With approvals in place, Atlantic Plaza II is poised to transform two city blocks in Delray Beach, Fla., into a suburban downtown mixed-use destination, according to Bill Milmoe, president of CDS International Holdings.
The $325 million Atlantic Plaza II will bring together a specialty retailing opportunity, Class A office space, and upscale residences in a pedestrian-oriented environment. The 8.5-acre site, designed by Vander Ploeg & Associates of Boca Raton, Fla., will take advantage of its urban infill location, with six distinctive three- to five-story buildings that include an outdoor lifestyle center component featuring 132,000 sq. ft. of shops and restaurants, and a 50,000-sq.-ft. two-story retail anchor space.
Borders Group names SVP marketing
ANN ARBOR, Mich. Borders Group has appointed Arthur Keeney SVP marketing, effective June 29. He will report to Borders Group EVP merchandising and marketing Anne Kubek.
Keeney will provide strategic direction for Borders’ sales-driving initiatives and lead the team responsible for development and execution of effective marketing and promotional programs across all channels, including e-mail, Internet, direct marketing, CRM, advertising, in-store marketing, publicity, entertainment alliances and social media.
Prior to joining Borders, Keeney, served for eight years as VP and general manager at Harold Friedman, a Pennsylvania-based grocery retailer where he was responsible for marketing, merchandising, store operations and the execution of a successful competitive strategy.
Barnes & Noble opens flagship on Manhattan’s Upper East Side
NEW YORK Barnes & Noble announce that it is opening a new flagship bookstore on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York, at 150 East 86th Street and Lexington Avenue on June 19.
The 55,000-sq.-ft. store spanning will feature an advanced cash wrap cueing system, a custom neighborhood mural in the store’s lobby with a video wall and video streams of live information and entertainment displayed on video walls throughout the store, and stroller parking in the B&N Jr. section for families on the go.
“The new Upper East Side Barnes & Noble has combined the best elements of our bookstores and provided them to customers in a dynamic and engaging way,” said store manager Amy Fitzgerald. “The new space will quickly grow into the premier community center and events space for families and book lovers on the Upper East Side.”
