New Creative Director for Banana Republic

San Francisco Gap Inc. on Thursday named Simon Kneen executive VP of design and creative director for Banana Republic, the latest effort by the apparel retailer to boost its product offerings and improve sales. He will begin the new position next Wednesday.

Kneen was previously creative design director at Retail Brand Alliance, where he led creative direction for the Brooks Brothers and Adrienne Vittadini brands.

He replaces Deborah Lloyd, who had been executive VP of product design and development. She left in October to become co-president and creative director of Liz Claiborne Inc.’s Kate Spade brand.

Stater Bros. Markets Promotes Execs

San Bernardino, Calif. Stater Bros. Markets has promoted George Frahm to the position of executive VP of retail operations and administration and Dennis McIntyre as executive VP of marketing.

Frahm joined Stater Bros. in 1973 as a courtesy clerk and progressed through a range of retail store and district supervision positions. Most recently, he served as group senior VP of administration.

McIntyre joined the company in 1978 also as a courtesy clerk. He most recently served as group senior VP of marketing in 2002.

Blue Square-Israel Announces Resignation of Director

Rosh Haayin, Israel Blue Square-Israel Ltd. announced that Erez Meltzer resigned from his position as director in Blue Square’s board of directors, effective December 31, 2007. Meltzer served as director since August 2006.

Blue Square-Israel Ltd., a leading retailer in Israel, currently operates 183 supermarkets under various banners.
