New tenants for Knoxville’s University Commons

Knoxville, Tenn. — Four new retailers have signed leases with University Commons, a new retail center adjacent to the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville, Tenn. The property’s developer, CHM, made the announcement.

The newly signed retailers are Fresh To Order, a fast-fine restaurant concept; Blush Boutique, an affordable-fashion concept; Great Clips, the chain’s twentieth Knoxville-area shop; and Jersey Mike’s, the fast casual submarine sandwich franchise.

University Commons encompasses 12+ acres and 211,000 sq. ft. of retail space and parking. The development’s anchor tenants, Wal-Mart and Publix plan to open later this summer.

Century 21 to anchor The Gallery in Philadelphia

Philadelphia — Century 21 has signed into The Gallery in Center City Philadelphia. It is the iconic fashion retailer’s first location outside of the New York market, according to the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust, the owner and manager of The Gallery.

"With this transaction, our vision to create Philadelphia’s only transit-oriented, retail anchored multi-use property offering accessible luxury retailing and artisan food experiences is becoming a reality," said Joseph F. Coradino, CEO of PREIT. "Century 21 is the ideal brand to change the retail landscape of this city and attract new shoppers to the Market East corridor and more exceptional first-to-region retailers to the project."

Redevelopment begins in Miami Gardens

Miami Gardens, Fla. — Demolition has begun at Palmetto Gardens Plaza, a 7.1-acre shopping center site in Miami Gardens, Fla. The site is being prepared for the development of a 63,000-sq.-ft. shopping center that will include a 41,000-sq.-ft. Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market and an additional inline and outparcel space of 20,000 sq. ft. — now available for lease.

Formed in 2003, Palmetto Gardens Plaza is a joint venture between DZD Palmetto, a division of DZD Holdings, and Ver-Mac Properties 8. The principals of DZD Holdings joined forces with Ver-Mac Properties 8 to redevelop the seven-acre commercial property.
