New York Metro McDonald’s launches hiring push on April 19

Roseland, N.J. — McDonald’s New York Tri-State Area and its franchisees said Tuesday they are looking to hire new crew and restaurant management positions in more than 600 restaurant locations throughout the area on April 19.

The one-day event is part of a nationwide initiative for McDonald’s and its franchisees with a target to hire up to 50,000 new employees at restaurants across the country.

"Our business is strong and our customers are responding positively to the variety of choices on our menu and the value and convenience we provide," said Mason Smoot, VP and general manager, McDonald’s New York Tri-State.

There are more than 600 McDonald’s restaurants, owned by over 100 franchisees, located throughout the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Tri-State.

FMI names government relations lead

Arlington, Va. — The Food Marketing Institute said Tuesday that it has appointed Robert Rosado as director of government relations.

According to FMI, Rosado will focus on legislation that impacts supermarkets in the areas of food safety, health care, food deserts and the 2012 Farm Bill.

“Rob has a broad range of expertise in food and agriculture that will be very helpful to FMI and its members. His background also includes working with federal agencies on many issues related to the food retail industry,” said FMI president and CEO Leslie G. Sarasin.

Rosado joins FMI from the Biotechnology Industry Organization where he was policy manager for the food and agriculture issues. Before joining BIO, he served as director of legislative and political affairs for the Foreign Agriculture Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Campbell Soup appoints VP corporate development

CAMDEN, N.J. — A former Walmart VP has joined Campbell Soup as its VP corporate development.

In this new role, Raymond Liguori will be responsible for Campbell’s efforts in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures. He will report to Craig Owens, Campbell’s CFO and chief administrative officer.

Liguori, who has more than 23 years of financial leadership experience, joined Campbell Soup from Walmart, where he most recently served as VP mergers and acquisitions, leading all international merger, acquisition and divestiture activities for the retailer.
