Nike adds Gilt.com CEO Michelle Peluso to board

Nike has elected Michelle A. Peluso to the company’s board of directors. Peluso is CEO of Gilt, an online shopping destination offering its members top designer labels at up to 60% off retail.

“Michelle’s leadership experience in marketing, branding, innovation, and digital media for global brands makes her an outstanding addition to our board,” said Philip H. Knight, Nike co-founder and chairman. “We look forward to her contributions to expand Nike’s position as the world’s leading athletic brand and industry innovator.”

Peluso served on the Gilt board of directors until her appointment as CEO last year. Prior to joining Gilt, she served as global consumer chief marketing and Internet officer of Citigroup from 2009 to 2013, and from 2002 to 2009, she held senior management positions at Travelocity.com, being appointed chief operating officer in 2003, and president and CEO in 2004. Prior to joining Travelocity, in 1999 she founded Site59, an online travel site, serving as its CEO until its acquisition by Travelocity in 2002. Peluso was also a director of OpenTable from 2008 to 2012.

Foot Locker taps new SVP, general counsel and secretary

Foot Locker has named Sheilagh M. Clarke as SVP, general counsel and secretary, effective June 1. She succeeds Gary M. Bahler, who is retiring on that date.

Clarke is currently VP, associate general counsel and assistant secretary of Foot Locker. She joined Foot Locker in 1988, and since that time has held a number of positions in the company’s legal department. She is a graduate of Monmouth University and Seton Hall Law School.

Bahler, who joined the company in 1980, has been a SVP since 1998, general counsel since 1993, and secretary since 1990.

"We are pleased to have a lawyer with Sheilagh’s depth and breadth of experience, as well as knowledge of our business, as our new general counsel,” said chairman and CEO Ken C. Hicks. “Foot Locker’s strategic commitment to building on our industry leading retail team has allowed us to develop executives, like Sheilagh, who are ready to assume senior leadership positions. We greatly appreciate Gary’s 33 years of service to the company — 21 as our general counsel — and wish him well in his retirement."

Foot Locker operates 3,473 stores in 23 countries in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Tractor Supply elevates Lee Downing to EVP, store ops

Tractor Supply this week promoted Lee Downing to EVP, store operations. In conjunction with his promotion, Downing will assume added leadership responsibilities for the company’s real estate team.

Downing will also be responsible for the strategic new store site selection, facilitation of store openings and ongoing maintenance, in addition to other real estate functions. He joined Tractor Supply October 2010 as SVP, store operations.

Upon joining Tractor Supply, Lee quickly embraced our company’s culture and became an effective leader of our store operations team,” said president and CEO Greg Sandfort. “Lee continues to demonstrate a passionate and dedicated management style that reinforces our company’s mission and values. Tractor Supply operates 1,276 stores in 48 states.
