Nordstrom expands in South Jersey

Seattle Nordstrom opened the doors to its new store in South Jersey on Friday at the Cherry Hill Mall in Cherry Hill, N.J. The 138,000-sq.-ft., two-level store is the second Nordstrom to serve the greater Philadelphia area.

The store will also feature two food offerings: a Marketplace Cafe and an espresso bar.

Office Depot honored for helping women in business

BOCA RATON, Fla. The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council named Office Depot to the organization’s annual listing of America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises. This marks the eighth consecutive year that Office Depot has been included on this selective list honoring corporations for world class supplier diversity programs.

In its inclusion on WBENC’s 2008 list, Office Depot was recognized for its company-wide programs and initiatives that provide WBEs equal access to corporate contracts for goods and services.

“Our top corporations are world-class leaders in producing innovation and growth through partnerships with women’s business enterprises,” said Linda Denny, President and CEO of WBENC. “WBENC is proud to recognize Office Depot and the company’s world-class supplier diversity program for the eighth consecutive year. Office Depot is a leader in its commitment to women in business and in its ability to consistently break down barriers that impede WBEs from gaining fair access to procurement opportunities.”

New CEO named at Shopko

GREEN BAY, Wis. Shopko announced today that its CEO, Michael MacDonald has made a decision to leave the company to pursue another opportunity. His last day will be April 3.

Shopko also announced the appointment of Paul Jones, the company’s president and chief merchandising officer, as Shopko’s new CEO, effective April 6.

Jones joined Shopko in November 2007 after a successful 20-year career highlighted by senior leadership roles in the department store sector, mid-tier chain stores and big box retailers. His prior employers have included May Department Stores, Kohl’s and Sears. Since joining Shopko, Jones has successfully implemented an entirely new merchandising strategy based on differentiated brands and strong promotional values.
