Online fashion subscription retailer JustFab opens its first store
El Segundo, Calif. — JustFab, the online fashion subscription retailer, has opened a 3,000-sq.-ft. flagship at the Glendale Galleria, Glendale, Calif. It is the company’s first physical store.
“We have created the global leader in fashion subscription in just three short years and will now bring our customized shopping experience into physical stores to enable customers to touch and feel our products," said co-CEO Don Dom Ressler.
Launched in 2010 as a web-only fashion brand offering women’s footwear, JustFab has since expanded into international markets and into new product categories such as handbags, jewelry, denim and other accessories. It counts over 33 million members worldwide.
"We’ve heard from our members that being able to see and try on products before they buy is still an important part of the shopping experience for them," said co-CEO Adam Goldenberg. "With the JustFab flagship, we are giving current VIP members and new customers a new way to connect with the brand and to experience the JustFab world in person."
JustFab’s retail space was designed to mirror the brand’s online shopping experience, with cohesive, trend-driven collections showcased against sleek white surfaces. Customers are able to shop curated product displays, with trend story videos and in-store personal “stylists” offering inspiration and fashion advice on how to wear the trends featured. Customers can register at the boutique for exclusive VIP member pricing that was previously available online only. Casual shoppers can opt to purchase items at regular retail price.
JustFab has merged technology and fashion at its retail store to deliver an efficient and seamless shopping. The company’s product team custom-engineered a proprietary retail application that maximizes sales floor efficiency, allowing stylists to focus on providing superb customer service. Using the app’s floor activity toolsets, JustFab associates are able to check inventory instantly or to send product requests from anywhere within the boutique on their iPad mini devices, eliminating the need for associates to physically check inventory or pull requested styles from the stockroom. The retail app also makes it easy for stylists to create wishlists for customers, or to get real-time status updates of customer requests.
Dunkin’ Donuts to enter United Kingdom with 50 locations in five years
Canton, Mass. — Dunkin’ Donuts announced that it has signed agreements with two franchise groups to begin developing Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the United Kingdom. The two agreements call for the development of 50 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Greater London over the next five years, with an initial focus on North London and East London.
"We feel there is significant opportunity for Dunkin’ Donuts in the U.K., and we have had a tremendous response from potential franchisees interested in developing the brand across the country," said Giorgio Minardi, president, Dunkin’ Brands International. "We are especially excited to begin the expansion of Dunkin’ Donuts into the U.K. with The Court Group and DDMG Ltd., two experienced franchisees who have a deep passion for the brand and a solid understanding of the local market. We look forward to working with them to make Dunkin’ Donuts’ high-quality beverages, baked goods and sandwiches part of the way of life in the U.K."
The chain is also in advanced discussions with additional franchise partners to help develop a total of 150 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the U.K. over the next five years, which includes the two signed agreements.
Von Maur to enter Northeast with store in upstate New York
Davenport, Iowa — Von Maur Department Stores will open its first location in the Northeast, at Eastview Mall in Victor, N.Y., which is located just outside of Rochester. The two-level, 140,000-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open on Oct. 26.
Located at the mall’s former Bon Ton location, the store underwent a complete reconstruction by local contractor LaChase Construction to achieve Von Maur’s signature exterior brick façade with arching entryways accented by a copper roof and cupolas.
Inside, open expansive floor plans accentuate Von Maur’s residential ambiance, complete with antiques, original artwork and music from the store’s grand piano. An interactive, life-sized tree in children’s is designed entertain Von Maur’s youngest shoppers while an antique pub, motorcycle and television will offer enjoyment in the Men’s areas.

Founded as a dry goods store in Davenport, Iowa, in the late 1800s, Von Maur has since grown to 27 stores and an e-commerce center. In the past two years, the company has opened two stores in Georgia, and plans to expand into Alabama and Oklahoma between November 2013 and November 2014. Eastview will mark the company’s 28th store, followed by opening at Riverchase Galleria Mall in Alabama one week later.
