Pantene crowns Queen Latifah as its latest brand ambassador
CINCINNATI — Pantene has selected current CoverGirl spokesperson Queen Latifah as its brand ambassador, supporting the Truly Relaxed and Truly Natural collections.
“Queen Latifah not only exudes inner and outer beauty, but she is also a brilliant businesswoman who shines in every aspect of her work,” stated Kevin Crociata, marketing director of North American hair care at P&G. “We believe her strong, playful personality and passion for life resonates with women. Her honest and approachable attitude makes her a perfect addition to the Pantene family. Women really listen to her, her opinion matters.”
“Over the years I’ve learned to be versatile when it comes to beauty and hair,” said Latifah. “Hair is an extension of who you are. As black women, we express ourselves through our hair so we should have fun with it. But all women worry about keeping their hair healthy so they can enjoy it. I love that Pantene stands for health and that their products deliver on what they promise.”
Latifah will appear in the brand’s marketing campaign, including TV and print advertising, in-store displays, digital, social media and public relations campaigns, beginning in September.
Premium denim brands names creative director
VERNON, Calif. — True Religion Apparel appointed Gary Harvey as the brand’s creative director. In this role, Harvey will work with the company’s senior leadership to define the creative vision and design across True Religion. He will report to Lynne Koplin, chief merchandising officer.

Harvey was most recently owner and creative director of his own creative consultancy based in London, GaryHarveyCreative, where he worked with Adidas, Chanel, Diesel, DKNY, Levi’s, Nike and Revlon. Before that, he was also creative director of Levi’s Europe for five years. He has held senior design roles with Arcadia Group and French Connection in London.

Saks Fifth Avenue to relocate within Houston Galleria
HOUSTON — The relocation of Saks Fifth Avenue’s flagship store is allowing leading retail real estate firm Simon Property Group to use the space for other purposes, and the retailer to open a two-story, 198,000-sq.-ft. space adjacent to the one it will vacate at the Houston Galleria.
The Galleria is Houston’s premier shopping and tourist attraction, Texas’ largest shopping domain and the nation’s fourth largest shopping center with more than 2.2 million sq. ft. of retail space, four department stores and more than 350 other stores that generate retail sales in excess of $1.25 billion. The Galleria is jointly owned by an affiliate of SPG and Institutional Mall Investors LLC.
The relocated flagship store is scheduled to open in fall 2015. Until then, Saks Fifth Avenue will continue to operate in its existing store in the Galleria.
Once the flagship opens, Simon will convert the space Saks leaves behind into a two-level mall wing connecting the new Saks store, the existing Neiman Marcus store and luxury retailers. The new two-level expansion wing will include the addition of 35 luxury and other unique retailers as well as feature restaurants.

Simon’s plans also include the addition of a multi-tenant building for a select group of luxury retailers along Westheimer Road and upgrades to the interior, exterior and parking decks of the Galleria. A 300-unit, luxury residential high-rise adjacent to the Galleria at the corner of West Alabama and Sage is also being contemplated, which would provide residents with all of the latest amenities, an outdoor pool and an indoor connection to the Galleria.
Saks currently operates 41 Saks Fifth Avenue stores, 69 Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH stores an e-commerce site.
