PetSmart opens new DC in Pennsylvania

BY Dan Berthiaume

Phoenix — PetSmart on Friday celebrated the opening of a new distribution center in Berks County, Pa.

The new facility will bring an estimated 500 jobs to Berks County by the end of 2016. The 870,000-sq.-ft. DC will serve 25% of PetSmart’s stores in eleven states, handling and delivering consumables, hard goods and fish to 170 PetSmart stores in 2014 and more than 260 stores by 2015.

The $50 million facility is the result of PetSmart’s growth and increased demands on its supply chain. Within proximity of more high volume stores, the new build-to-suit DC will provide transportation savings and enable a significant percentage of PetSmart’s over 1,240 stores to be serviced from this location.

All You brand expands national distribution

BY CSA STAFF

Time Inc.’s All You brand is expanding its newsstand distribution beginning with the April 2014 issue, already in newsstands.

In addition to being sold at Walmart, All You will be available at most major retail chains across the country including supermarkets, drugstores and bookstores like Kroger, Publix, Safeway, Target, CVS, Walgreens and Barnes & Noble, in addition to being sold by subscription. This expansion follows a successful rollout across retailers in the Southeast market that began last June.

"Recognizing this cross-shopping behavior, All You is expanding distribution to meet the needs of this growing population and realize untapped consumer demand. With our expansion we’re looking forward to reaching more consumers wherever they shop and continuing to drive sales for marketers," explained All You publisher Suzanne Quint.

Recent new advertising span categories from appliances to telecommunications and include AT&T, Dyson, Hewlett-Packard, Kitchen Aid, Netflix, Hisense, Olay, ABC Family and Sprint.
