Porcelanosa to open at Rockville Pike
Chevy Chase, Md. — JBG Rosenfeld Retail said it recently inked a long-term lease on behalf of kitchen and bath tile manufacturer and distributor Porcelanosa for a 12,500-sq.-ft. storefront formerly occupied by Anthropologie.
The building, located at 11500 Rockville Pike, sits next to JBGR’s new North Bethesda Market development.
Porcelanosa currently occupies an 8,000-sq.-ft. showroom in the 700 block of Rockville Pike in the Marlo building.
Porcelanosa is scheduled to open in its new space by fourth quarter 2011.
Academy Sports makes Atlanta debut
Katy, Texas — Houston-area sports retailer Academy Sports + Outdoors announced Tuesday that it will enter the Atlanta market with a new store opening on April 1.
The 70,000-sq.-ft. store is located in McDonough, and is the chain’s fourth store in Georgia.
"We’ve been excited about the Atlanta market for some time," said John Hay, Academy Sports + Outdoors VP real estate. "McDonough is the first opportunity for Academy Sports + Outdoors to establish its active family offering in one of the biggest and most vibrant markets in the United States.”
Academy Sports + Outdoors operates 130 stores throughout Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Walmart to expand to supercenter in Liberty Square Center
Burlington, N.J. — Purchase, N.Y.-based National Realty & Development Corp. said Monday it will expand Liberty Square Center in Burlington, N.J. The construction will take place over the next 12 months and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2012.
Walmart will expand to a Supercenter in the shopping center, increasing its square footage from 121,480 sq. ft. to 186,714 sq. ft., including a new garden center. Party City will be relocating to a larger store within the center and will open in June. New tenant Anna’s Linens has also leased a 6,321-sq.-ft. unit and plans to open this summer.
The 374,692-sq.-ft. Liberty Square Center is anchored by Walmart, Marshalls, Toys ‘R’ Us and Acme.
