RadioShack names former J.C. Penney exec as VP, communications
Fort Worth, Texas — RadioShack has named marketing and communications executive Merianne Roth as the company’s new VP of communications, a newly created role at the electronics retailer.
She joins RadioShack from the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau, where she was VP of marketing and communications. Her background includes leadership roles for J.C. Penney, where she was director of consumer brand marketing and publicity, and Pier 1 Imports, where she served as senior manager of public relations.
Target to open new location in Spokane, Wash.
Minneapolis — Target said it plans to open a new store in Spokane, Wash., in July 2014.
The 135,000-sq.-ft. store, part of the Regal Plaza shopping center, will be the retailer’s third location in the Spokane area.
“Target is pleased to open its third store in the Spokane area,” said Bryan Everett, Target’s senior VP of stores in the Midwest and Northwest regions. “Washington continues to be a great market for Target, and we are committed to being a good neighbor and developing long-lasting relationships with guests and the Spokane community.”
Anheuser-Busch’s Fort Collins brewery turns 25
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Anheuser-Busch’s Fort Collins brewery is celebrating its 25th birthday.
The brewery took nearly three and a half years to construct, and according to the company was designed based on generations of brewmaster expertise. The state-of-the-art fixture has since undergone three expansions, with the last one having been completed April 2003, and which included a brewhouse renovation, additional grain silos, expansion of the fermentation and aging cellars, an additional warehouse and a new truck entrance.
"We are proud to celebrate 25 years here in Fort Collins and the countless accomplishments of our employees — from our brewmasters to our operators," said Kevin Fahrenkrog, senior GM of the Anheuser-Busch Fort Collins brewery. "Our team is focused on brewing and packaging some of the world’s most popular beers, and continuing our long tradition of brewing excellence."
The brewery currently serves more than 15 states, has an annual capacity of nearly 10 million barrels and produces more than 25 different beers, including Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra and Shock Top. The brewery ships approximately 225 trucks each day and 30 railcars each week.
"Brewing is an art and a science, and our Fort Collins brewery is a perfect example of how modernization and brewing tradition unite. You really can’t have a better brewery to bring it all together than right here," said Katie Rippel, senior brewmaster of the Anheuser-Busch Fort Collins brewery. "From the latest technology to the generations of expertise passed down from our brewers, we have one of the finest brewing operations in the country."
Its tour center hosts more than 60,000 guests annually. The brewery is also home to the Budweiser Clydesdales’ West Coast hitch.
