Regency Centers completes redevelopment at Willston Centre II
Falls Church, Va. Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers has announced the opening of a newly constructed and expanded Safeway at Willston Centre II in Falls Church, Va.
The store will open on Sept. 10.
“Safeway has expanded from 42,491 sq. ft. to 55,000 sq. ft. The original store was demolished in January and is now reconstructed in the modernized lifestyle format,” said Alan Roth, Regency Centers’ senior VP. “In addition to the Safeway expansion, Regency has renovated the balance of Willston Centre II with a new exterior facade, upgraded architectural components, new signage, lighting and parking lot improvements.”
Willston Centre II was originally constructed in 1986 and Regency Centers acquired the 127,449-sq.-ft. center in 2005.
Bed Bath & Beyond to open in former Linens ’N Things space
Vienna, Va. Chevy Chase, Md.-based JBG Rosenfeld Retail said it has finalized a deal with Bed Bath & Beyond for a 56,500-sq.-ft. space in Vienna, Va., that was formerly home to Linens ’N Things.
The new Bed Bath & Beyond, located in the heart of the Tysons Corner area, is a relocation space for the retailer and will open during the fourth quarter of this year.
Academy Sports to open at Hammond Square
Hammond, La. Covington, La.-based Stirling Properties said Tuesday that Academy Sports + Outdoors will open at Hammond Square Shopping Center, in Hammond, La.
The Texas-based sports, outdoor and lifestyle retailer will occupy a freestanding store that is approximately 70,000 sq. ft. and is slated to open in summer 2011.
Originally developed as a 430,000-sq.-ft. enclosed mall, the new Hammond Square is almost double the original size and is designed as a combination power/lifestyle center. Retailers include Target, Dillard’s, J.C. Penney, Sears, AMC Theatre, Best Buy, T.J. Maxx, Ulta, Books-A-Million, Rite Aid, rue21 and Foot Locker.
