REI to open in Dublin, Calif.

Seattle — REI on Thursday announced plans to open a new store in Dublin, Calif., at Amador Plaza in the fall of 2011.

The one-story, nearly 24,000-sq.-ft. store will feature a bike shop and a seasonal gear rental department for customers to test out new outdoor activities.

“The Dublin store will provide us the opportunity to bring our friendly expertise and quality outdoor products closer [than the current Berkley store] to the more than 42,500 active REI members that live within 15 miles of the new location,” said Tim Spangler, REI’s VP retail.

Prada opens first Florida outlet store

Sunrise, Fla. — Prada has opened its Florida inaugural outlet store at Sawgrass Mills, located in Sunrise, Fla., and billed as the largest outlet, value retail and entertainment destination in the United States with more than 350 stores.

Prada joins other luxury retailers Barneys New York Outlet; Burberry Factory Outlet; Canali; David Yurman; Hugo Boss Factory Store; Judith Ripka; Malo; Ralph Lauren; Salvatore Ferragamo Co. Store; St. John Co. Store; Tag Heuer; Tommy Bahama’s Outlet; Valentino; Vilebrequin and more.

In addition, The Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills features Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th and the recently opened Bloomingdale’s — The Outlet Store.

Sawgrass Mills is part of Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group’s The Mills outlet shopping center group.

Barbour to open second Manhattan store

New York City — Robert K. Futterman & Associates said it has arranged a 1,993-sq.-ft. retail lease for Barbour on the ground floor at 123 Wooster St. (also known as 130 Prince St.), located in New York City’s SoHo area.

Barbour has opened in the space temporarily for the holiday shopping season, and is scheduled to undergo renovations and reopen in spring 2011. This will serve as the second permanent New York store for the brand.

Neighboring retailers in the building include True Religion, Lacoste Live!, Cole Haan, and Georg Jensen.

Barbour is a fourth-generation British family-owned company that produces hunting and outdoor clothing and apparel for men, women and children.
