Report: J.C. Penney will hire 35K holiday workers

Plano, Texas – J.C. Penney Co., Inc. will reportedly hire about 35,000 seasonal workers for the upcoming holiday season. According to Reuters, holiday workers will help perform tasks such as assisting customers and updating price signage.

J.C. Penney also hired about 35,000 seasonal employees during the 2011 holiday season. The retailer did not release holiday hiring figures last year.

Krispy Kreme to open 25 stores in Colombia

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation has signed its first development agreement in South America with Bogota-based IRCC Ltda., a subsidiary of the VA! Group. Under the agreement, IRCC expects to develop 25 stores in major cities throughout Colombia, including Bogota, Medellin and Barranquilla, during the next five years.

"This is a very exciting and important announcement for Krispy Kreme as we enter the market in South America with IRCC, the leader and a true innovator in the Colombian food service industry," said Jeff Welch, Krispy Kreme president, international. "Colombia offers Krispy Kreme an attractive opportunity with its growing economy and long customer experience with international brands. Toys ‘R’ Us opens Halloween ‘Boo-tiques’

Wayne, N.J. – Toys ‘R’ Us is opening Trick ‘R’ Treat “Bootiques” inside Toys "R" Us stores nationwide and online at Toysrus.com. These in-store shops feature a broad assortment of Halloween costumes, accessories, candy, gear and more.

In addition, from now through Halloween, Toys “R” Us will offer a dedicated Halloween hub on its e-commerce site. The retailer will also place themed interactive content on its Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram channels, including photos from allowing customers to upload photos using the hashtags #Halloween and #BabiesFirstHalloween.
