Report: Safeway healthcare plan part of Senate debate
New York City Safeway’s employee health-insurance program is the model for a “wellness provision” in a healthcare reform bill that passed the Senate Finance Committee last week by an unusually bipartisan 18-4 vote. The provision, designed to “incentivize Americans to lead healthy lifestyles in order to lower their overall healthcare costs,” would allow companies with self-insurance programs to reward employees with bonuses and/or premium reductions.
Baskin-Robbins names two execs
Canton, Mass. Baskin-Robbins said Tuesday it has named two additions to the company’s senior management team.
Sue Thirlwall has joined the company in the newly created position of brand operating officer, and Brad Wahl has joined the company in the newly created position of VP marketing USA.
Each will report directly to Srinivas Kumar, chief brand operating officer for Baskin-Robbins Worldwide.
Whole Foods founder defends controversial healthcare views
Austin, Texas Founder and CEO of Whole Foods Market John Mackey, who received much criticism last August when he wrote an op-ed piece about health care, has written another article for The Wall Street Journal addressing the backlash his commentary ignited. The new article also details the Whole Foods practices that Mackey believes would work well for the rest of the country.
