Ross Dress for Less opens three Indiana stores July 19
Dublin, Calif. – Ross Dress for Less will open three new stores in Indiana on July 19. The stores include Waterford Park South Shopping Center in Clarksville, Shops on Main in Schererville, and Erskine Village in South Bend.
These new openings are part of the retailer’s 2014 expansion program, totaling approximately 75 new locations during the year.
Warby Parker opens classroom-styled store in Dallas
New York — Warby Parker, the hip online eyewear retailer, has opened its sixth retail location, a 1,050-sq.-ft. store in Dallas.
The store has a 1950s classroom look, with books, globes, school supplies, apples and a wall of framed eyewear frames illustrated on chalkboards. A sculpture of a giant pencil sticks out of the roof, and an old-fashioned yellow school bus is parked outside. (The same bus visited several U.S. cities last year on the Warby Parker’s “Class Trip” promotion.) The bus, which has been fitted with leather sofas and oak shelves and houses Warby Parker’s nonprescription sunglass selection, will be parked permanently outside the store.
“Shoppers’ expectations are so much higher now because they have so many choices, partly because of e-commerce,” said Warby Parker co-founder Neil Blumenthal, a report on dallasnews.com. “So to stand out, the best retailers will create the best experiences because shopping is also a form of entertainment.”
UGG to launch online site; open stores for new tween-girls brand
New York — UGG Australia on July 14 will launch an e-commerce site dedicated to its new tween-girls brand, I Heart UGG. The retailer also plans to open two I Heart UGG stores, in Waikiki, Hawaii, and in San Francisco, in early September.
The new line includes footwear, loungewear, accessories and handbags and will be available in the United States, Japan and China.
"This an important time in a young girl’s life and her tastes and needs are different than in any other life stage," says UGG Australia president Connie Rishwain. "The key was to make this product uniquely different from the UGG brand, yet also very recognizable as UGG."
Distinct design elements include an I Heart UGG logo heel plate, a red heart rivet on every piece of footwear, distinct "Kiss" stitching on seams and a cell phone pocket in select boots.
