New York City The United Kingdom’s Selfridges won the “Department Store of the Year” award at the 2010 Global Department Summit, held in New York City. The award is based on superlative achievements by a department store chain in branding, product and service innovation, and supported by strong financial performance.
The award ceremony, held Thursday night, marked the culmination of the Summit, which was attended by over 300 prominent executives, including 54 department store CEOs, with 36 countries represented.
Celebrating its centenary anniversary, the four-store Selfridges chain earned record profits in 2009 during a challenging time for many in the department. store industry. NEW YORK Barnes & Noble announced that it has developed an integrated software solution for the higher education market. Called NOOKstudy, the feature rich, free software application is the ultimate study tool, enabling students to manage all their digital content – e-textbooks, class materials, and notes – on the computing device they rely on most, their PC or Mac, the company reported.

ROANOKE Advance Auto Parts has announced the launch of a suite of new online service features as part of the fully enhanced “Your Garage” area on AdvanceAutoParts.com.
Customers can now get service alerts based on their vehicle’s mileage, diagnose problems, get servic cost estimates and find a mechanic, among other features.
