Simon expands, rebrands Las Vegas Outlet Center
Indianapolis — Simon Property Group announced Wednesday that Las Vegas Outlet Center will open a major expansion on March 17, adding 13 new stores and approximately 70,000 sq. ft. of GLA, and bringing the center to more than 140 stores for a total of 535,000 sq. ft.
With this expansion, the center is being renamed Las Vegas Premium Outlets – South. The center was also recently renovated, receiving a complete external makeover with significant interior improvements as well.
The expansion includes the opening of Guess, New Balance, True Religion and Under Armour. Loft Outlet, Michael Kors and Coach Men’s will open in April. Several stores will relocate to larger spaces within the expansion including Bose, Coach, Fossil, Reebok and Rockport.
The center has also expanded its parking lot along with upgrading the interior lighting with high-efficiency compact fluorescent fixtures, which lowers the center’s energy usage and overall carbon footprint. In addition, the center’s two food courts received a wall-to-wall remodel.
Destination Maternity opens 10th store in the Middle East
Philadelphia — Destination Maternity Corp. said Wednesday that it has opened a 10th Destination Maternity store in the Middle East, this one located in Discovery Center, in Kuwait.
Destination Maternity, which also operates under the Motherhood Maternity and A Pea in the Pod banners, has three other stores open and operating in Kuwait. The newest store was opened through its franchisee, Multi Trend, a member of the Al Homaizi Group. Multi Trend has also opened two Destination Maternity stores in the United Arab Emirates, as well as four Destination Maternity stores in Saudi Arabia.
Under a multi-year franchise agreement, Destination Maternity has partnered with Multi Trend to operate branded retail locations and market merchandise under the company’s Destination Maternity, Motherhood Maternity, A Pea in the Pod, and Edamame The Maternity Spa brands in six key markets in the Middle East: Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman.
15 Bloom locations to convert to Food Lion
Salisbury, N.C. — Delhaize America said Monday it plans to convert all of its Bloom stores in North and South Carolina to the Food Lion banner, with the exception of one Bloom store in Mauldin, S.C., that will close.
According to a report by Supermarket News, the 15 Bloom locations in the Charlotte and Greenville, S.C., markets will be converted "as quickly as possible."
The company said it plans to continue expansion of the Bloom banner in the southeastern Virginia and Washington, D.C., areas, and that "efforts are underway to further strengthen the brand and poise it for continued success in these markets."
