Simon expands use of Mobiquity’s iBeacon solution to 200-plus malls

Indianapolis — Simon announced the expansion of its agreement with Mobiquity Technologies, a technology company focusing on location-based mobile solutions, to create "smart malls" in 200-plus Simon retail destinations in the U.S. using Bluetooth-enabled iBeacon technology.

Simon’s deployment of Mobiquity’s Mobi-Beacon network, already in place in 75 of its premier shopping destinations, provides an opt-in opportunity for customers to engage with retailers, brands and mall apps for timely and contextually-relevant personalized offers, information and real-time experiences.

"We are constantly seeking ways to enhance the Simon shopping experience through relevant, leading-edge technology," said Mikael Thygesen, chief marketing officer of Simon. "We are pleased to help facilitate the growing adoption of iBeacon technology and believe it is an important new initiative that will provide Simon, its retailers and brands with interesting, new ways to reach and communicate with shoppers who choose to opt in to the program."

The expansion of the program across a broader number of Simon’s malls, Premium Outlet and Mills centers is expected to be completed by spring 2015.

Epson and Mobivity in partnership to transform POS receipts

New York — Epson, a leading supplier of value-added point-of-sale (POS) solutions, and Mobivity Holdings Corp., a provider of retail customer engagement and marketing technologies, have entered into a partnership to transform receipts from transactional to actionable.

The two companies have come together to offer Epson’s OmniLink TM-T88V-i smart printer pre-configured to communicate with Mobivity’s recently acquired SmartReceipt innovative cloud software. SmartReceipt leverages the power of marketing messages on receipts and has been road-tested in thousands of locations across North America, according to the company.

“The innovation of this solution is that QSRs [quick-service restaurants] can bring mobile printing and cloud-based marketing solutions to their point of sale by replacing the printer,” said Tom Kettell, senior manager of North American Sales for Epson’s Business Systems Division. “Using the receipt for more than just a proof of purchase provides real value, and a natural fit for Epson.”

“SmartReceipt is already a proven-revenue generator at thousands of large QSRs and retailers,” added Jon Cassell, VP of business development for Mobivity. “Now, with the Epson product pre-configured to interface with our application, adding the power of SmartReceipt is as easy as replacing your existing POS printer.”

OmniLink TM-T88V-i combines Epson’s TM-T88V printer with PC functionality to enable cloud-based services, open platform mobility and flexible Web-based printing from any mobile device. Merchants can also access POS data from the cloud while connecting POS transactions to consumer mobile applications. Paired with SmartReceipt software, OmniLink enables QSRs to transform ordinary receipts into a targeted, revenue-generating marketing medium — without upgrades to existing software. SmartReceipt functionality enables real-time, behavior-driven marketing that supports in-store point-of-purchase decision-making, proven to generate revenue and influence customer behavior.

Mobivity is an authorized Epson Envision partner. The new Epson OmniLink TM-T88V-i smart printer solution preloaded to interface with SmartReceipt software is available directly through Mobivity and / or through a select list of its value-added resellers.

Edible Arrangements acquires FruitFlowers

Wallingford, Conn. — Edible Arrangements announced the acquisition of the FruitFlowers brand, including two company stores, all e-commerce operations and a portfolio of trademarks that includes Incredibly Edible Delites, FruitFlowers and Fruitflowers.com.

"We are thrilled to welcome the FruitFlowers team to the Edible Arrangements family," said Edible Arrangements’ president Rob Price. "The expertise they bring perfectly complements the Edible Arrangements brand and we expect their integration into our system to be seamless, with no disruption in services."

Price said that FruitFlowers will continue to operate under the FruitFlowers brand during the integration phase and customers should notice no changes.
