Stage Stores appoints new member to board of directors

Houston Stage Stores announced that Cheryl N. Turpin has been appointed to the company’s board of directors. Her appointment brings the board’s membership to eight directors.

Turpin has over 30 years of experience within the retail industry. From 1994 through 1997, Turpin was president and CEO of the Limited Stores.

Hhgregg to create 600 jobs at 12 new stores

Indianapolis Appliance and electronics retailer Hhgregg announced Tuesday it plans to create 600 jobs at the 12 mid-Atlantic stores it is opening in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware this fall.

“As we continue our mid-Atlantic expansion, entering the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey, now is an exciting time to join the Hhgregg team,” said Dennis L. May, president and CEO of Hhgregg. The company said it plans to hire approximately 50 employees for each of the new store locations.

Hhgregg currently operates 131 stores in 11 states.

Dybvad promoted to CEO of Interbrand Design Forum

Dayton, Ohio Interbrand Design Forum said Friday that founder Lee Carpenter has promoted current president and COO Bruce Dybvad to CEO.

Carpenter, who has served as the design consultancy’s CEO since its founding in 1978, will now focus solely on his role as CEO of Interbrand North America, a position he has held since 2006.

Dybvad joined Interbrand Design Forum in 1980 and was named president in 1998. He added the additional role of president of Interbrand Cincinnati in 2006.

Carpenter will continue to shape the strategy and growth of Interbrand across North America, which in addition to Interbrand Design Forum’s offices in Dayton, Ohio, and Los Angeles, includes Interbrand offices in New York, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Toronto and Mexico City.
