Stage Stores Names President, COO of Peebles Division

Houston Stage Stores, Inc. announced that Richard Maloney joined the company as president and COO of its Peebles division. Maloney succeeds Dennis Abramczyk, who announced his intent to retire in January 2008.

Maloney has over 31 years of retail experience, while 15 of which were in senior executive roles. Prior to joining Stage Stores, Maloney spent five years as a business consultant, and seven years as president and CEO of the Meier and Frank division of The May Department Stores Co. (now part of Macy’s).

Maloney also held various senior merchandising positions of increasing responsibility at a number of former Macy’s divisions.

He will be responsible for all operations of the Peebles division, including merchandising, marketing, planning and allocation, and store operations.

Finish Line Names CEO

Indianapolis The Finish Line Inc. has appointed Glenn S. Lyon as the company’s next CEO following the planned retirement of Alan H. Cohen, effective Dec. 1.

Lyon, who currently serves as president, will also join the company’s board. Cohen will remain chairman.

Lyon joined The Finish Line in 2001 as executive VP and chief merchandising officer. Previously, he served as president and CEO of the now-defunct Paul Harris Stores Inc.

Steven Schneider, who has served as COO since 2003, will assume the role of president. Schneider joined Finish Line in 1989 as the company’s CFO.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Names New President

Imperial, Pa. Dick’s Sporting Goods will have a new president and COO when the company begins its new fiscal year on February 1, 2009. Joseph Schmidt has been the company’s executive VP COO since February. Schmidt will take on the title of president.

Edward Stack will continue as CEO and chairman of the company, but will drop the president’s title.
