Stage Stores Plans Distribution Center
Houston, Stage Stores Inc. said Monday it plans to open a third distribution center in Jeffersonville, Ohio. The company said it would lease a 200,000-sq.-ft. space that can support 300 stores.<p. Stage Stores said it plans to spend more than $12 million on equipment and plans to begin operating the facility by mid 2008.
Reebok suspends sales of Vick products
CANTON, Mass. Reebok announced today that it will suspend selling Michael Vick NFL products, following allegations that the Atlanta Falcons quarterback was involved in a dog fighting ring. In a statement, Reebok said the allegations were “too disturbing too ignore.”
While Reebok does not have an individual endorsement or marketing relationship with Michael Vick, it is the official supplier of apparel and equipment to all 32 NFL teams and the league’s 1,800 active players. In addition to the sales suspension, Reebok has honored retail cancellations of Vick NFL jerseys.
Report: Limited fires 370 employees
COLUMBUS, Ohio According to reports, Limited Brands has completed the 10% cut in its work force by laying off 370 employees, mainly at its headquarters in Columbus, Ohio and New York. The cuts did not affect employees who worked in stores, distribution or call centers.
The cuts are part of the company’s plan to focus on beauty and intimates. According to reports, the company is currently testing a spinoff of its Victoria’s Secret brand, Pink, and is expanding its Bath & Body Works stores.
