Syms Corp. stock to be delisted
Secaucus, N.J. — Syms Corp. said that its stock will be delisted as of November 15, 2011 and that Nasdaq will file a Form 25-NSE with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which will remove the company’s securities from listing and registration on the Nasdaq.
This decision by Nasdaq comes following Syms announcement on November 2, 2011 that it and its subsidiaries filed petitions for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
Urban Outfitters restructures leadership
PHILADELPHIA — Urban Outfitters Monday announced leadership changes at Anthropologie, Terrain and Urban Outfitters.
David McCreight has been appointed CEO Anthropologie Group, effective Nov. 15. In this new role, McCreight will be responsible for Anthropologie North America, Anthropologie Europe and BHLDN.
McCreight most recently served as president of Under Armour from 2008 until 2010 and president of Lands’ End from 2005 to 2008. McCreight also held the position of SVP merchandising at Lands’ End from 2003 to 2005 and SVP and general merchandising manager of Disney Stores from 2001 to 2003. McCreight had been president of Smith and Hawken and began his career with roles within the merchant organizations at Saks, The May Company and The Limited.
Effective immediately, Anthropologie Brand announced new executive appointments for North America. The Brand’s co-president positions have been eliminated. Wendy Wurtzburger, a 13-year veteran of Anthropologie, will continue to serve as chief merchandising and design Officer. Kristin Norris, a 19-year veteran of the company, has been appointed chief creative officer, most recently having served as the managing director of BHLDN. Denise Albright has been appointed COO, having served as executive director of planning and allocation since she joined the company in 2005.
Wendy McDevitt has been appointed president of Terrain. McDevitt began her career with the company in 1991 and over the years has held a variety of senior operational and creative roles across three of the company’s brands — Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters and Free People – including an overseas assignment for Urban Outfitters, and her most recent role as Global Co-President of Anthropologie.
The company also announced that Charles Kessler joined the Urban Outfitters Brand as chief merchandising officer on Oct. 31 and will oversee the merchandising, design and planning organizations for North America. Kessler most recently served as SVP corporate merchandising for Coach Inc. Prior to joining Coach in 2010, Kessler spent 16 years at Abercrombie & Fitch Co. ascending to the role of EVP womens’ merchandising.
CVS/pharmacy recognizes Veterans Day by supporting USO, encourages flu shots
WOONSOCKET, R.I. — As Veterans Day approaches, CVS/pharmacy is reminding all Americans, including veterans, military service members and their families, about the importance of getting a flu shot for protection against the flu.
In addition, to honor military heroes, CVS/pharmacy will donate $3 to the USO for every flu shot given at CVS/pharmacy and MinuteClinic during the week of Veterans Day, Nov. 6 to 12, up to $50,000.
The USO is a nonprofit, congressionally chartered private organization whose mission is to lift the spirits of America’s troops and their families through its many programs and services.
"Veterans Day falls within the peak of flu season, so this is an ideal opportunity for people to protect themselves against the flu while at the same time supporting those who protect our country," stated Papatya Tankut, VP pharmacy professional services at CVS/pharmacy. "We are pleased to recognize Veterans Day through our donation to the USO, an organization that has supported countless U.S. service members over the years."
