Target to give away 1.5 million reusable bags on Earth Day
Minneapolis — Target Corp. will celebrate Earth Day by distributing 1.5 million reusable bags in all of its stores on April 22.
In addition, Target will offer guests simple, sustainable solutions and more than $50 in savings on sustainable products throughout April in our stores and via a limited-time website. The retailer also will partner with Recyclebank, an organization that promotes sustainable decisions by allowing individuals to earn rewards for actions like recycling and reducing water use.
Wal-Mart board nominates Google executive to board
Bentonville, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores announced that its board of directors has nominated Marissa A. Mayer of Google Inc., for election as a new member of the company’s board at Walmart’s Annual Shareholders’ Meeting on June 1, 2012. If elected, Mayer would become the sixteenth member of the board.
Mayer, 36, is VP Local and Maps for Google Inc., in Mountain View, Calif., a position she has held since 2010. She leads the product management and engineering efforts of Google’s local, mobile, and local-based products. Mayer previously served as Google’s VP Search Products and User Experience, beginning in 2005.
Walmart and Humana team up on prescription program
Bentonville, Ark. — Walmart is partnering with health services company Humana Inc. to offer a new prescription drug plan for insured employers and employees. Humana’s pharmacy benefits management subsidiary, Humana Pharmacy Solutions, will now offer the Walmart Rx Network. The partnership will also offer a new formulary, or approved drug list, called Rx4Value.
Humana said the new formulary and the Walmart Rx Network guarantee up to 20% savings on employers’ average prescription price. The program is available to self-insured employers and will be available to fully insured employers later this year.
“At Walmart, we’re committed to providing low-cost prescriptions and ensuring that people have affordable access to the medications they need to help them live healthier lives,” said John Agwunobi, president of Walmart U.S. health and wellness. “We are proud to team with Humana on this innovative benefit.”
