Togo’s to develop 20 locations in Oregon and California

San Jose, Calif. — Togo’s Eateries announced the signing of two multi-unit franchise agreements with an existing franchise group to develop 20 new restaurants in Oregon and California over the next several years.

Togo’s franchisee Mark Fischer will open 10 restaurants in Portland, Ore., and 10 additional locations in Los Angeles County, with the first location scheduled to open in Portland, Ore. in first quarter 2014.

This new development is part of the chain’s plan to grow the brand to 400 restaurants along the West Coast.

Fischer and his partners currently own and operate two California restaurants in Stockton and Tracy, Calif., and first joined the brand in 2007. The franchisees also have another location scheduled to open in Fairfield, Calif. later this year, as well as a commitment to develop a restaurant in Lodi, Calif.

Report: Shipping costs key to online shopping

Ann Arbor, Mich. — Seventy-seven percent of consumers say shipping costs factor into their willingness to shop online. Results of the CFI Group Retail Satisfaction Barometer for second quarter 2013 also show that the most common consumer activity on retail websites is browsing and researching before in-store purchase (59%).

In addition, 36% of consumers use retail websites to browse multiple stores and sites, while 24% browse and research in a store to purchase on a site and 15% browse and research in a store to purchase on a competitor’s site (showrooming).

Looking at mobile retail, the study finds only 21% of consumers use mobile applications during their shopping experience, although they spend an average of $19.97 per transaction compared to $14.99 for consumers not using mobile applications. Smartphones (78%) are clearly the most popular mobile shopping device, with tablets (10%) and a combination of smartphones and tablets (12%) following.

Other findings from the study include:

  • 60% of 18-to-24-year-olds shop online monthly and 33% shop online weekly.
  • The most popular uses for mobile shopping apps are checking prices (68%), comparison shopping (53%), and checking reviews and recommendations (49%).
  • Top three consumer complaints about mobile shopping apps are they are not helpful, too slow, and security concerns.

Accenture and SAP release solution for retail CMOs

New York — Accenture and SAP AG are jointly releasing a new application called the Marketing Performance Solution by Accenture and SAP. Sold by Accenture, the solution enables retail chief marketing officers (CMOs) view and act on centralized key marketing performance data such as sales figures, media spend and social reach in near real-time.

Marketing Performance Solution by Accenture and SAP leverages analytics solutions from the SAP HANA platform and Accenture marketing analytics solutions. CMOs and marketing teams can gain access to data in near-real-time from multiple internal and external sources and respond to shifting market demand and manage the ROI of marketing spend. Tracking results of marketing campaigns, running simulations and promotions and making adjustments is enabled through a customizable, web-based user interface accessible from PCs and mobile devices.

“Clients understand the value of Accenture offerings paired with SAP HANA to drive real-time insights and business decisions,” said Robert Enslin, president of Global Customer Operations and member of the Global Managing Board of SAP AG. “This new level of collaboration is designed to offer unique solution packages and simplify the contract process so clients can get up and running even faster. Accenture is a great fit for this one-of-a-kind model that delivers tremendous benefit to our joint CMO clients.”

The solution is the first offering of a new business model created by Accenture and SAP to provide clients with end-to-end solutions running on the SAP HANA platform. Hosting services are also planned to be included in all end-to-end solutions offered by Accenture and SAP, with a private or public cloud deployment option supported by global hosting and infrastructure provider. Accenture will be the single point of contact for clients handling contracts for all software and services.
