Amsterdam Tommy Hilfiger Group will open a 9,000-sq.-ft. flagship store on the Champs des Elysees in Paris, this fall.

“The Champs Elysees store will serve as a true flagship for our brand in France and will further anchor our significant retail presence in Europe,” said Fred Gehring, CEO of the Tommy Hilfiger Group, which is wholly owned by Phillips-Van Heusen Corp.

The three-floor store will pay tribute to the brand’s heritage by incorporating an eclectic mix of vintage furniture and props from America as well as those from France.

Target gears up for Manhattan debut

BY CSA STAFF

Minneapolis Target plans to hold its grand opening for its first store in Manhattan, in East Harlem, on July 25.

Target said the store would feature more space devoted to fresh food, everyday essentials and home basics geared for apartment living.

There will be plenty of access for shoppers, with a pedestrian bridge linking mass transit to the store on the second floor of the East River Plaza. A parking deck is also available.

Target has about a half-dozen stores in New York — in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens. It has also occasionally opened temporary “pop-up” stores in Manhattan.

So all shoppers and retailers are free to pass through pedestrian bridge or there would be some fees for this? I am new retailer and will be going there with the one who recruit me for this transaction.

American Eagle to open stores in Israel

BY CSA STAFF

Pittsburgh American Eagle Outfitters announced plans to further expand its international retail presence with stores throughout Israel.

The company has signed a multi-year franchise agreement with Fox-Wizel Ltd., a leading retailer and wholesaler that operates approximately 170 Fox stores in Israel, as well as 250 Fox stores internationally.

The agreement includes American Eagle Outfitters flagship locations as well as freestanding aerie stores. The first stores are slated to open in spring 2012.

American Eagle Outfitters introduced its brand in the Middle East in March of this year with stores in Dubai and Kuwait, and recently announced plans for stores in Hong Kong and China beginning in early 2011.

“International expansion is an important part of AEO’s growth strategy,” said Chris Fiore, executive VP international, American Eagle Outfitters.

The model for the Israeli stores is similar to that of AEO’s other international locations, where the partner handles local operational functions, with American Eagle Outfitters assuming creative approval for assortment, marketing and store locations.
