Virtual fitting room launches on Barbour website

New York City — Fits.me Virtual Fitting Room, a bio-robotic virtual fitting room for e-commerce apparel websites, announces its launch with Barbour By Mail, the official U.K. online partner of lifestyle clothing brand Barbour. Barbour By Mail’s dedicated website is now offering its online shoppers the ultimate customer service — providing a fitting room to ease the challenge of purchasing clothes that fit.

By applying Fits.me’s virtual fitting room tool on its website, Barbour By Mail can virtually show shoppers how different sizes of its clothes will fit their body shapes and sizes, giving them the confidence that they are making a successful online purchase. At the same time, Fits.me will be helping Barbour By Mail to decrease its costs by reducing garment returns, thus increasing the brand’s value and strengthening business.

Barbour By Mail is the newest website to implement Fits.me. Several leading retailers in Britain and Germany have already noticed an increase in sales and a drop in return rates since utilizing Fits.me when it launched just last year. Fits.me also recently launched with its first U.S. retailer, and continues to expand into different markets.

Forest City teams with FaceCake on 3D virtual dressing room

Cleveland — Forest City Commercial Management, in partnership with FaceCake Marketing Technologies, said it is previewing a new technology at three of its California shopping centers that allows mall shoppers to try on a vast inventory of clothing and accessories from multiple stores via the first full-motion, 3D, real-time virtual dressing room.

Called Swivel, the technology enables shoppers to virtually see themselves in clothing and accessories and “swivel” to view the look from all angles on a large flat-screen monitor. Shoppers can choose from multiple background scenes, and get a realistic 3D view of how the outfit looks in different settings. Shoppers can also share photos via Facebook, Twitter or email.

Forest City is partnering with FaceCake to bring Swivel to South Bay Galleria Sept. 2-4, Victoria Gardens Sept. 9-10 and Promenade Temecula Sept. 16-18.

“We are always looking for ways to integrate technology into the bricks-and-mortar retail shopping experience,” said Stephanie Shriver-Engdahl, director of advertising at Forest City Enterprises. “We’re bringing Swivel to our properties as an introduction to a new channel for shoppers and retailers to stay connected in person as well as online between in-store visits.”
