Wal-Mart Steps Up Hispanic Marketing
New York City, Wal-Mart is beefing up its efforts to target Hispanics, according to a report in today’s Wall Street Journal. In addition to printing ad circulars in both English and Spanish and publishing a Spanish-language magazine, the retailer also is teaming up with Sprint to offer a new prepaid wireless service specifically geared to Hispanics, the paper reports.
American Girl Plans Los Angeles Store
Middleton, Wis., American Girl Inc. signed a lease for a 40,000-sq.-ft. location at The Grove in Los Angeles. The store will be American Girl’s third, in addition to its successful locations in Chicago and New York.
Matthews, N.C., Family Dollar announced the promotions of Barry Sullivan to senior VP, store operations, and Michael Vickers to VP, store operations. The company said that Bruce Barkus, current executive VP, store operations, has accepted a CEO position with another company.
