Gap opens holiday pop-up

BY CSA STAFF

San Francisco — Gap has joined the growing ranks of retailers opening holiday pop-ups. The chain has teamed with the New York City hipster publication Cool Hunting to open a temporary store at Gap’s 5th Avenue and 54th Street gallery space. It will be open through Jan. 2, 2011, and feature more than 100 products hand-selected by Cool Hunting‘s editors.

The look and feel of the shop channels a cozy winter sanctuary, created by local designer by Kenyan. Infusing modern-rustic textures with a warm ambiance, the shop integrates hanging light fixtures, panels made of salvaged barn wood, antique Persian rugs, bead board paneling, chandeliers by Roll and Hill, decorative painting by Evolving Image and wood top tables with metal gas pipe legs, all surrounded by one-of-a-kind art installations, including one-of-a-kind Jonathan Adler sculptures and one of Ian Hundley’s map-based quilts.
