Walgreens Announces Organizational Changes
Deerfield, Ill. Alejandro Silva, chairman and CEO of Chicago-based Evans Food Group, Ltd., has been elected to Walgreens board of directors as an independent director, effective Jan. 9. The company also announced that James J. Howard is retiring from the board.
Walgreens also announced that Stanley B. Blaylock, previously corporate VP and senior VP of specialty pharmacy and home care for Walgreens Health Services, has been promoted to a corporate senior VP and president of Walgreens Health Services. Blaylock replaces Trent E. Taylor, who has left the company.
Blaylock joined Walgreens in 2006 with the company’s acquisition of Pittsburgh-based Medmark Specialty Pharmacy Solutions, where he was president and CEO.
Walgreens also promoted VP of purchasing David A. Van Howe to a corporate VP. Van Howe joined Walgreens in 2000 as GMM of beauty and fashion.
Cosmetics Veteran to Lead Victoria’s Secret Beauty Division
Columbus, Ohio Limited Brands Inc. has hired cosmetics-industry veteran Shashi Batra to serve as president of Victoria’s Secret Beauty business, effective Jan. 22.
Batra previously served as president of N.V. Perricone, a cosmetics company that sells topicals and dietary supplements. He’s also a founding member of Sephora USA.
Batra replaces former Victoria’s Secret beauty president Christine Beauchamp, who announced plans to resign in late 2007 because of changes to her role through a company restructuring.
Big Lots Executive VP Retires
Columbus, Ohio Big Lots Inc. said Wednesday Donald Mierzwa, executive VP for store operations, will retire after 19 years with the company.
Mierzwa oversaw store operations at the chain’s 1,300 stores. The company said it is currently searching for a replacement.
